Birch is a trace monotype print made by drawing through paper onto a sheet of Sunome Senaka laid over an inked plate. Where pressure was applied, ink was lifted off the plate and onto the Sunome Senaka. Only one print of Birch has been made.
The birch trees in the print are amongst a number that stand on a slope of felled conifer en route to the Rhaeadr Fawr (Aber Falls), near Abergwyngregyn. It is a spot that I enjoy visiting as dusk begins to settle across the valley.
Sunome Senaka is a lightweight, 52 gsm, Japanese paper. The ink used for printing is Cranfield Traditional Letterpress Seville Black. The print is hinge-mounted in a lily-white conservation grade mount, and can easily be removed from the mount if an alternative mount is required for framing.
I have signed and titled the print below the image, and editioned it 1/1 (designating it as a one-off print).
