Charcoal and Pierre Noire drawing
Image 34 cm x 23.5 cm (13.5” x 9.25”)
Cairn, Dyffryn Ardudwy is one of a number of works that emerged from my residency at Plas Brondanw. I visited the cairn on a particularly hot day and immediately took shelter to work in the shade of a large oak tree that now grows over it. The drawing was worked in willow charcoal on the site and I added detail using Pierre Noire carrés and pencils once back in the studio. The paper is Stonehenge white vellum (250 gsm).
I have stabilised the drawing with professional-grade fixative. It will be shipped in a conservation-grade mount from which it can easily be removed if you so wish.
