Monotype print (mounted)

Image size 10 cm x 16 cm (4” x 6.25”)

Mounted size 22 cm x 28 cm (8.75” x 11”)

There’s Nothing Here is a unique monotype print made by drawing through a sheet of paper onto an inked plate — the drawing being in reverse to the image created in the print. In a manner of speaking, it is a re-set poem: an attempt to reimagine the path of our future. The original poem was written in January 2024 and reads:

There’s nothing here
but thorn, thrift
and what the sea brings

which is enough
so let us settle here
gather feathers, primaries

secondaries, some discarded
fish net and weaves ourselves wings
so that we too may yet be.

The work is printed on a sheet of Sunome Senaka paper (a lightweight, 52 gsm, Japanese paper) and the ink used was Cranfield Traditional Letterpress Seville Black. I have hinge-mounted the print in lily-white conservation grade mount board so that it is ready to frame. It can easily be removed from the mount should you so wish.

The print is numbered 1/1 (signifying that it is a unique work), titled, and signed beneath the printed area.
