Work with me — Printmaking & Writing
Printmaking and Drawing
I teach printmaking and drawing across full-days and half-days on an individual basis, and run printmaking workshops for groups by invitation. Processes can include linocut, wood engraving, monotype, or charcoal.
I welcome beginners and also those wishing to develop their technique further. My teaching is led by your needs and you can work either with material that you bring with you or with templates that I provide.
An full day introduction to linocut would typically include:
The safe use of tools
Preparing lino for cutting
Design transfer
Mark making and work upon a print
Hand-pressing
At the end of a full day, you will likely come away with one or two of your own hand-pressed prints.
Teaching is run from my home studio. If you would like to enquire, please get in touch.
Writing and Tutoring
I offer one-to-one support in academic writing, working with students to develop clarity, structure, and confidence in their work.
My approach is conversational and process-based. Rather than correcting or editing writing at a surface level, I focus on how ideas are formed, organised, and expressed. Sessions are shaped around the individual, starting from where they are and developing the capacity to articulate ideas and to write with greater independence.
I have extensive experience in supporting undergraduate and postgraduate students and academic staff, including those who are dyslexic and international students working in English as an additional language. Previously, I have held roles as:
Head of Skills Development and founding Head of the Study Skills Centre, Bangor University
Writing Centre Coordinator, Liverpool Hope University
English for Academic Purposes Course Coordinator and English Language Tutor, Aberystwyth University
The support that I offer may include:
developing structure and argument
working through drafts
understanding assignment requirements
building confidence in writing
establishing sustainable working practices
Sessions are offered online.
